In 1969, Katsuji Kaneda, the company president at the time, was elected the director of the Tokyo Oil Wholesalers Market organized by oil traders. In 1972 he was then appointed chairman of the All Japan Federation of Oil Traders. Through these assignments he put various measures in place and made valuable contributions to the development of the oil market. In 1967, Kaneda changed its name from Kaneda Shoten Co. Ltd. to Kaneda Oil & Chemical Co. Ltd. In 1985 Tasuaki Kaneda became company president and along with this event the company name was changed to what it is today, Kaneda Co. Ltd. The third president Katsuji Kaneda, who continues to be an advisor to the company, received a Medal with Blue Ribbon in 1978 for his many years of contribution to the progress of oil & fat industry, and in 1985 was awarded Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette by the Emperor. In 1975, Kaneda built a new factory in Koto-ku to handle blending and bottling of liquid paraffin, enabling us to deliver products to satisfy customer needs in a timely fashion. In a special article titled "Keeping Old-Established Shop with Aggressive Sales Strategy," published in Nihon Keizai Sangyo Shimbun on December 5, 1977, Kaneda was introduced as a company which predicts the trend of the future and is proactive in developing and selling new products according to such needs. Its annual seminar was also featured in Nihon Keizai Shimbun on January 27, 1979, with a photograph, under the title of "Seminar for the Invited Customers." In 1978, Tokyo Chambers of Commerce and Industry publicly recognized Kaneda as one of the 98 companies which "has been conducting business in Tokyo over 100 years and is still thriving." Among these 98 were such prominent enterprises as Fuji Bank, Daiichi Kangyo Bank (now Mizuho Bank), Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Shiseido Co. Ltd., Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Mitsukoshi, Ltd., Yoshitoku Co., Ltd. It was a great honor for Kaneda to receive this recognition. |
