1990's KANEDA CORPORATION - History - 1990's

In 1990, Kaneda launched a subsidiary company, Creseed Corporation, and started marketing computer systems and developing software applications. Thus Kaneda became a trading company that not only sells materials and products but is capable of providing value-added services and information to meet the demands of the information age.

Kaneda has long been importing and distributing olive oil from Europe and liquid paraffin and vaseline from the USA. In 1988, we also started importing Vinton soybeans from Fairview Farm in Iowa, USA, when the owner of the farm, Mr. Chamber(s), came to Japan for the first time and made an intriguing proposal. He wanted to begin exporting his Vinton soybeans to Japan. As Kaneda had always been passionate about new product development, we accepted the proposal and the trading began. 1998 marked the 10th anniversary of the trade and a commemoration party was held at Fairview Farm. Today, the soybean Kaneda distributes is popular among a wide range of customers in Japan.

In 1991, the 120th year since the establishment of Masusada Oil Shop and the 60th since the Chairman Katsuji Kaneda became the president at age 17, the usual annual New Year seminar was turned into a commemorative party at Hotel Okura, with 800 customers as invited guests.

In that same year, President Tatsuaki Kaneda came up with an idea to make a salon where the employees could gather freely, and thus Spica Salon opened on the 6th floor of the annex building. Paying 200 yen donation at the entrance allows one to have free drinks, making Spica Salon an appealing venue for communication between employees or with customers.

In order to address the increasing amount of overseas trade, the International Division was established in 1997 and began to handle all the transactions with overseas customers, including export and import of all the sales divisions and research on the foreign products. This has made Kaneda's international transactions much quicker and accurate and greatly helped expand sales.
